March 10

Officer Gill responded to the area of N. Howell for a report of stealing.

Det. Sgt. Aaron Galiher spoke to an individual reporting that they received harassing letters in the mail. They identified a suspect, and formal charges will be sought.

Officer Austin Deshazo arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant.

Cpl. Micah McKemie assisted another law enforcement agency with a subject they arrested on a West Plains outstanding warrant.

March 11

Officer Nathaniel Siegrist responded to Dollar General on Missouri Ave for a report of an assault. The case will be closed because the victim cannot identify their attacker.

March 12

Officer Ivie Powell conducted a safety check of the field behind Domino’s Pizza for homeless individuals. He arrested one individual on an outstanding warrant.

Officer Jesse Martin responded to the City of West Plains Sanitation building for a stolen property report.

Officer Dobbs responded to the area of Division Drive for a report of a runaway juvenile. Officers located the juvenile and released them to the care of the juvenile office. This case is closed. 

Cpl. Wesley Stuart responded to St. Louis Street in reference to an assault. EMS transported the victim to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment of serious injuries. Officers located the suspect, and a probable cause statement will be submitted to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

March 13

Sgt. Joshua Wichowski conducted an open business check at 14 Junction Truck Stop due to the area known to be a high drug traffic area. A suspect admitted to having controlled substance. The suspect consented to a search of their person, and officers seized a controlled substance. Formal charges will be pending through the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office upon receipt of positive lab results.

Officer Powell took a report of missing medication.

The Southwest MO Cyber Crimes Task Force, HSI-Springfield (MO), and the Joplin Police Department executed a residential search warrant concerning the sexual exploitation of children, on Pennsylvania Ave., Joplin. As this is an ongoing investigation, the case's specifics cannot be disclosed. Further details will be provided when permissible. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Officer Dobbs responded to grocery store located on Kentucky Avenue for a report of stealing. This case will be open pending camera footage.

Officer Kerley responded to Crestwood in regards to a disturbance. Investigation determined the couple had separated days prior, and the individual continued to stalk and harass the victim and a friend. Officers arrested the subject and placed them on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges. This case will be referred to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review.  

March 14

Officer Powell responded to the area of Washington Avenue near Pony Thomas in reference to vandalism to West Plains City property.

Officer Jerry Mingus responded to Crestwood Circle for a medical emergency. Investigation found an individual aggressive with abnormal behavior from not taking regular medication. They placed the individual on a 96 hour hold for mental evaluation.

Officer Dobbs responded to the area of Preacher Roe Boulevard and Worley Drive for a report of a two-vehicle accident. One vehicle involved left the scene. West Plains Police officers quickly located the vehicle and arrested the driver driving without a valid license, no vehicle insurance, and leaving the scene of an accident. 

Officer Dobbs responded to Bartley Avenue for a report of stolen property. This case will be open for further investigation. 

An individual contacted Officer Gill about a driver leaving the scene of an accident. Investigation discovered the reporting party made a false report to the West Plains Police Department and charges will be filed with the West Plains Municipal Courts.

March 15

Officer Jacob Miller responded to a business on Washington Avenue for a report of a stolen vehicle. Later in the day, officers recovered the vehicle. This case will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review.  

Officer Deshazo responded to Jackson Street for a report of people yelling at each other.

Officer Chris Barrett responded to Washington Ave for a verbal domestic between family members. 

Officer Shell responded to Grace Ave. for a domestic altercation. They transported one subject to Ozark Healthcare for a mental health crisis. 

Officer Jacob Beadell took a report of stealing. 

Officer Shell arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant.

March 16

Officer Barrett arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant.

Officer Martin took a report of an assault. The investigation will be ongoing.
