Calls for Service

February 24

Officer Jesse Martin responded to the area of Country Club Drive for a verbal domestic. No charges will be sought.

Officer Conner Burnes received information concerning truancy. He took the juvenile suspect into custody and later released the child to the parents. No charges will be filed.

Officer Brent Keepes responded to the Smart Mart for a report of shoplifting. 

February 25

Officer Chris Barrett responded Saint Louis Street for a report of identity theft. The victim alleged someone they knew took out two student loans in their name. This case is still under investigation.  

Officer Austin Deshazo responded to a business located on Preacher Roe Blvd. for a report of threats made by an individual. The case will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review. 

Officer Jacob Beadell responded to Lanton Road for a report of a disturbance over dogs in the area. Officers contacted both parties involved and advised them to discontinue their arguing.  Investigation resulted in the arrest of one subject with an active warrant.

February 26

The Howell County Sheriff's Department and U.S. Probation & Parole requested assistance to forensically preview an unregistered cellular device seized from a registered sex-offender. The investigation is ongoing.  

The U.S. Probation Office requested assistance of the Southwest MO Cyber Crimes Task Force in conducting an investigation of a registered sex offender in Tecumseh. The investigation is ongoing. 

Officer Dobbs responded to Howell Avenue for a report of a child sex crime. This case is open for further investigation. 

February 27

Officer Robert Shell arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant.

The Southwest MO Cyber Crimes Task Force received a Cyber Tip Report from the National Center of Missing & Exploited Children indicating that Google, LLC discovered files depicting child pornography uploaded to their Google Photos infrastructure. They identified the suspect as residing in rural West Plains. This is an active investigation. 

Cpl. Wesley Stuart responded to E. Olden Street in reference to a report of child abuse. 

February 28

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office submitted three cellular devices for digital forensic analysis concerning an on-going investigation within their jurisdiction. Officers completed the process, and the devices and forensic reports will be provided to the case agent. 

Cpl. Brandon Stephens arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant.

Officer Jerry Mingus responded to McFarland for a report of an assault. Investigation found two subjects assaulted another younger individual before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. 

Officer Shell responded to N. Kentucky for a report of a sexual assault. Charges will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review.

Officer Shell arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant.

March 1

Officer Kerley responded to Southern Hills in regards to an individual yelling. Investigation determined two individuals from a previous romantic relationship had a physical altercation. Officers arrested one subject pending formal charges. This case will be referred to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review. 

Cpl. Stephens arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant.

Officer Barrett arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant.

Officer Shell and Cpl. Stephens responded to Gibson Ave. for a report of harassment. Officers detained a juvenile, and charges will be forwarded to the Howell County Juvenile's Office for review.

March 2

Officer Kerley responded to US Highway 63 in regards to a subject semi-responsive on the side of the road. Investigation revealed an assault and theft of money took place outside of West Plains Police Department’s jurisdiction. Officers advised Howell County Sheriff’s Office of the situation.
