October 6

Officer Ivie Powell responded to Porter Wagoner referencing found property. He placed a set of keys in evidence for safekeeping at the West Plains Police Department.

Officer Dawson Beavers took a report of a previously occurring vehicle accident. 

October 7

The Southwest MO Cyber Crimes Task Force received two Cyber Tip Reports from the Nat'l Center of Missing & Exploited Children, indicating that Synchronoss Technologies had observed files depicting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) that had been uploaded by a subscriber. The suspect is identified as residing in the Douglas County area.

Officer Beavers responded to Preacher Roe Blvd for a report of shoplifting. They recovered the merchandise, and the case will be closed.

Officer Beavers responded to Kentucky Avenue regarding a sexual assault. This case will be open pending further investigation from the West Plains Police Department Detectives Division.

Officer Brent Keepes responded to West Cass Avenue in reference to a physical altercation between two individuals. EMS transported one to the hospital. The victim does not wish to seek charges.

Officer Keepes responded to Hubert Redburn for a suicidal subject. They transported the individual to the hospital for a mental evaluation.

October 8

The Wright County Sheriff's Office requested the assistance of the Southwest MO Cyber Crimes Task Force Officer (TFO) Joseph Neuschwander to assist in locating a runaway and missing juvenile reported on September 22.

Officer Powell spoke with the reporting party of a sexual assault offence that occurred within the city limits of West Plains between January 2020 and December 2023 with a minor child. This matter remains under investigation at this time.

Officer Beavers spoke to an individual regarding an assault that took place on Broadway Street. This case is closed

Officer Beavers took a report of property damage that occurred on Aid Avenue. This case will be closed.

Cpl. Micah McKemie responded to Bruce Smith Ave in reference to a juvenile problem. His investigation learned the juvenile assaulted her mother. There were no injuries and no charges sought.

Officer Keepes spoke with an individual regarding an alleged court order violation.

Officer Dobbs responded to McFarland Drive for a report of a parent and child in a domestic altercation. No charges will be sought due to an uncooperative victim.

October 9

Sgt. Joshua Wichowski responded to a residence on East Main Street for a report of an unknown subject observed on the front porch of the residence attempting to gain entry through the front door. They located the subject and released them from the scene with a trespass warning per the property owner's request.

Cpl. Wesley Stuart conducted security checks on local businesses and found an open door. He found no signs of foul play.

Officer Chris Barrett responded to a business on West Broadway Avenue for a report of a domestic altercation in the parking lot. He spoke with an individual reporting their partner assaulted them. 

Officer Powell responded to E. Main for a possible burglary. He located a suspect walking away from the residence. His investigation determined they trespassed the suspect from the residence earlier that morning. They arrested the suspect for trespassing and later transported them to the hospital where they placed them on a 96 hour hold for a mental evaluation.

Officer Keepes investigated a report of property damage on Lincoln Avenue.

Officer Dobbs responded to Ozarks Healthcare (OZH) Emergency department for a report of an assault on staff. His investigation learned a subject assaulted hospital staff members causing injuries. They placed the subject under arrest and transported them to the West Plains Police Department Jail. Charges will be pursued.

October 10

Cpl. Stuart responded to Davidson Ave for a report of a domestic disturbance. After an investigation he took a subject custody for a twenty four hour hold pending formal charges.

Officer Conner Burnes assisted the Department of Social Services in a child abuse or neglect investigation. The investigation learned the case took place outside of the City of West Plains and the Howell County Sheriff’s Office had an open investigation into the incident.

Officer Dobbs took a report of a court order violation. This case is open for further investigation.

October 11

Officer Tyler Gill responded to Burke Avenue for a report of a verbal domestic. He found both parties separated for the evening.

Officer Caleb Kerley conducted security checks of local businesses and located an open door. He conducted a security sweep and secured the building.

Officer Barrett responded to a business on Mitchell Road for a report of stealing. The business owner reported a Stihl Backpack leaf blower stolen from behind the business. This case is still under investigation.

Officer Meyer began an investigation into a burglary.

Officer Meyer responded to Porter Wagoner Blvd for a report of a stealing. An investigation identified a suspect. This case will be forwarded to the West Plains Municipal Prosecutor's Office for review.

Office Shell responded to Palmer St. for a report of a domestic altercation. Charges will be forwarded to the West Plains Municipal Prosecutors' Office for review.

Officer Meyer responded to Harlin Drive for a report of a domestic disturbance. An investigation resulted in both parties separating.

Officer Gill responded to Sonic Drive In parking lot for a report of an assault. Officers spoke with the victim and several witnesses who identified the suspect. This case will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office for review.

October 12

Officer Tombley responded to Washington Ave for a report of property damage. The case will remain open pending identification of the suspect involved.

Officer Shell conducted a traffic stop and arrested an individual for an outstanding warrant.
