Calls for Service

August 18

Officer Jacob Beadell responded to Holiday Lane for a report of property damage. During the investigation they observed the damage to the building. The investigation will continue. 

Animal Control Officer Brad Jones spoke to an individual on Bartley Street reporting that dogs belonging to her neighbor came into her yard and tore up her trash. He located the owner of the dogs and issued summons for the dogs running at large.

Officer Jerry Mingus responded to Porter Waggoner Blvd for a report of forgery. Charges will be sought against a suspect. 

Officer Brent Keepes responded to Walker Street regarding a verbal domestic disturbance. Both parties were separated no charges are being sought.

Officer Keepes responded to a residence on Bill Virdon for a reported domestic altercation involving a knife between two brothers. An investigation resulted in one individual taken into custody and placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.

Cpl. Micah McKemie responded to Saint Louis Street in reference to a domestic altercation. His investigation discovered a husband and wife pushed each other before a family member arrived and struck the husband in the face. There are no charges being sought.

Officer Caleb Kerley responded to Kentucky in regard to an assault. Further investigation found a patient assaulted a nurse. A probable cause statement will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

August 19

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office requested digital forensics conducted on two cellular devices as part of an ongoing investigation within their jurisdiction.

Officer Jesse Martin responded to Kelley’s Self Storage for a report of trespassing. He issues a citation.

Officer Joseph Tombley responded to the area of Saint Louis St. for a report of trespassing. He issued a citation to the suspect. 

Officer Brandon Vernon arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant.

Officer Keepes responded to the area of FCC Behavioral Health regarding two juveniles who ran away from the facility. They located both juveniles and took them into custody and transported them to a juvenile detention center.

Cpl. McKemie responded to Bartley Street in reference to a domestic violence incident. The investigation found a household member assaulted other residents. Charges will be sought.

August 20

Officer Meyer conducted a traffic stop on US Hwy 63. His investigation found the driver in possession of narcotics. This case will be referred to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office for review. 

Officer Martin responded to Rita Place for a report of property damage. He later identified a suspect and took them into custody.

Sgt. Romans responded to a residence on Ginger Street for a domestic situation. His investigation determined subjects related and residing together had an altercation. No charges will be sought against either party.

Officer Barrett responded to a business on Palmer St for a report of trespassing. He issued the subject a citation.

Officer Keepes took a report of identity theft. 

Officer Vernon took a report of stealing. 

Officer Vernon arrested an individual on outstanding warrants. 

August 21

Officer Beadell responded to Jackson Street for a report of a runaway juvenile on a bike. They located and detained the juvenile, and a legal guardian transported them to the hospital. This case will be closed due to the lack of criminal elements.

Officer Keepes responded to Jefferson and Thornburgh regarding an out-of-control juvenile. They returned the juvenile to their residence back in the care of staff. They later transported the juvenile to a hospital by EMS and charges are being sent to the Howell County Juvenile Office for stealing.

Officer Shell responded to Sixth Street for a domestic altercation. 

Officer Vernon responded to Locust Street for a domestic altercation. 

August 22

Officer Mingus responded to Sixth St. for a report of stealing. A subject invested into a company dealing in crypto currency and believes they were scammed.

Officer Shell arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant.

Officer Shell took a report from a juvenile regarding a disturbance. 

Officer Vernon received information about an individual possibly sexually assaulted as a juvenile. A report will be forwarded to detectives.

Officer Mingus took a report of a failed child custody exchange.

August 23

Officer Gill responded to Bruce Smith Parkway for a report of suspicious circumstances. A report will be forwarded to the Detective's Division for review.

Sgt. Wichowski responded to the area of Jefferson Street and Thornburgh Street for a report of a juvenile with special needs who fled from the residence could not be located. They located the juvenile and admitted them to the Ozark's Healthcare Emergency Room per the request of the legal guardian.

Officer Tombley responded to Lanton Road for an assault. They separated the parties and investigated the incident. Charges will not be filed due to an uncooperative victim.

Sgt. Reid took a report of property damage. 

August 24

Officer Gill responded to East Main for a report of an assault. A report will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office for review.

Officer Martin responded to 9th Street near the lower parking lot of Ozarks Healthcare Emergency Room entrance for an unresponsive individual lying in the grass. They placed the individual on a 12-hour Protective Hold.

Cpl. Stephens responded to a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of US Hwy. 63 and Lanton Road. Officers arrested one for driving while intoxicated and driving while revoked. They placed them on a 24-hour hold at the West Plains Jail pending formal charges.

Officer Shell arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant.

August 25

Officer Martin responded to Negri Plumbing for a report of property damage. The investigation is ongoing. 

Officer Powell arrested two individuals on a outstanding warrants.

The Ava Police Department requested digital forensics be conducted on several devices concerning a homicide investigation within their jurisdiction.

Officer Tombley responded to the area of Missouri Ave to take a report for a missing person.

Cpl. Stephens arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant.

Cpl. McKemie conducted a safety check on an intoxicated individual on Curry Street. The individual became combative and assaulted law enforcement before resisting arrest. Charges will be sought.

Officer Keepes responded to a residence on Leyda regarding a verbal domestic dispute.
