July 28
While conducting business on Bill Virdon, Cpl. Wesley Stuart located an unsecured door. He checked the business, and no signs of foul play were located.
Officer Brandon Vernon responded to Porter Wagner for a report of a suicidal person. EMS transported the subject to the hospital.
West Plains Police department engaged in a vehicle pursuit in the area of County Road 1770 and County Road 1280. An investigation revealed the individual had a medical emergency. EMS transported the suspect evaluation and treatment. No charges have been filed at this time.
Officer Tyler Franks responded to a construction site in reference to a stealing report. Investigation discovered three sets of scaffolding frames and 4 caster wheels taken. This case is considered closed due to no suspect information and lack of evidence.
July 29
Officer Brent Keepes responded to 5th Street to assist Howell County Sheriff Department to serve a court ordered 96-hour mental evaluation hold. After a brief standoff they took the individual into custody.
Cpl. Micah McKemie arrested a subject for exposing their genitals in a public park to two witnesses. This case will be referred to the prosecutor.
Officer Keepes responded to Jefferson Street to speak with an individual regarding damage to a vehicle.
July 30
Officer Conner Burnes responded to a fraud case located on Broadway. His investigation found a suspect trying to cash a check that did not belong to them. He took the subject into custody on an active warrant without issue. The initial case will be under investigation.
Officer Chris Barrett responded to a residence on Hubert Redburn Lane for a report of assault.
Officer Burnes responded for suspicious circumstances located in Parkway Shopping Center. He spoke to a person reporting they allegedly killed someone in the Springfield area and watched others be harmed. This case will be under investigation and will be sent to the Detective’s Division.
Cpl. Trent Kinder responded to a business on Older St for the report of a court ordered violation. Charges in this incident will be sent to the prosecutor for review.
July 31
Cpl. Stuart responded to Utah Ave. for a report of a domestic disturbance. The parties willingly separated, and this case will be closed due to an uncooperative victim.
Officer Barrett spoke to an individual reporting a court ordered child custody order violation.
Sgt. Colter Reid responded to the West Plains Aquatic Center in reference to the report of a male subject displaying lewd conduct in the park. Witnesses reported the male struck military monuments at the park with a stick and dropped his pants to his ankles and was placing his nude buttocks on the military monument. They placed the subject under arrest on a 24-hour hold. A probable cause statement will be forwarded to the West Plains Municipal Prosecutor's Office.
August 1
Officer Barrett responded to a business on Kentucky Avenue for a report of stealing. His investigation found two individuals entered the business and took items without paying for them. This report will be under investigation.
Officer Barrett spoke to an individual reporting medication stolen from their residence.
Officer Jerry Mingus spoke to an individual reporting a failed child custody exchange.
August 2
Sgt. Joshua Wichowski responded to a residence on Crestwood Circle for a report of a suspicious person prowling in the area looking into windows of a nearby residence. Further investigation located and identified the suspect and placed under lawful arrest for multiple offenses. The suspect will be placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges through the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
Officer Barrett took a report of shoplifting from a business on Kentucky Avenue.
Officer Jesse Martin responded to 10-Box Cost Plus for a report of theft. The investigation is ongoing.
Officer Jospeh Tombley responded to the area of E Pamela St. for the report of a missing person. The case remains open pending further information.
Officer Mingus responded to Ginger for a juvenile problem.
August 3
Officer Caleb Kerley responded to South Howell in regard to a domestic altercation. No charges will be filed due to an uncooperative victim.
Officer Tombley investigated a report of a domestic incident on Joe Jones Blvd. The case will remain inactive pending further information and contact with any potential suspect.
Officer Tombley investigated a report of a domestic incident on Luna Drive. The victim refused to cooperate, and officers separated the parties involved.
Officer Franks responded to Fifth St for a report of a verbal argument.
