Focus on life skills at the school, not sports

I've been trying to refrain from writing this. But seems like people don't want to put the blame where it belongs.

Our local taxes to support the public school system has been squandered to wasteful spending and apparently is still continuing on the same path according to a recent article in this paper.

They have cut teachers positions to help save money and then want to hire two or three more special needs on top of what should already be utilized.

Here's an idea: why do we have a superintendent, 3 principals, 3 vice principals, and 6 or 7 more administrative directors??

This isn't a district with a thousand kids in each school. The sports programs didn't take cuts so I've been told...seems that we the PEOPLE aren't privy to all information.

What is more important teaching life skills or teaching a kid to play with a ball?

I'm sure that the same people who wasted the 4 million dollars of taxpayers money will remain as the, "Good ol Boy" political machine is alive and well.

I'm sure this will lose me a friend or two, but it needs to be said. People, just how many kids in the 100 years of football have went on to make a living from it?

Sorry, but it's more important to teach life skills and prepare our youth for the real world. Less than 20 percent will even go to college.

Which is another can of worms.

End of Rant.

In a world of people living from payday to payday, I'm sure their solution to this financial situation will be to raise taxes on an already stressed economy.

Thank you for listening.
