Did you know that visibly posting your address on your business or residence can save lives? Addresses should be visible enough that police, fire, and paramedics can locate your house or business in an emergency. In an emergency, seconds count, so don’t delay getting help by not posting your address.
It is recommended that address numbers be four-to-six inches in height, and the color should contrast with their background. When possible, the numbers should be reflective so they are clearly visible when lit at night. The numbers should not be hidden by shrubs or trees in the summer months and kept clean and legible.
This also applies to mailboxes in rural areas. It is also recommended to place your name on the mailbox with the numbers. First responders frequently get limited information, and having your name on the box expedites response.
Help us help you!
Signed,
Willow Springs Police Department, Willow Springs Fire Department, Willow Springs Ambulance District, and Eleven Point Fire Rural Fire.
