Max Sewick, a beloved husband, father, and friend, was born and raised in the heart of Iowa. His quiet strength and unwavering devotion shaped the lives of all who knew him.

 

Max married Lorraine M Drummer, his cherished partner, and together they celebrated seventy years of marriage on November 23, 2023, a milestone that stands as a testament to their enduring love and companionship. Lori was not only his soulmate but also his steadfast assistant in the woodworking projects that filled their lives with creativity and purpose.

 

Known for his gentle spirit and deep affection for his family, Max always placed loved ones at the center of his world. He found joy in moments spent with family and took pride in providing for them through hard work and perseverance.

 

Woodworking was Max's passion, and those who saw his creations often considered them works of art. Each piece reflected his meticulous care and the subtle artistry of a man who found beauty in craftsmanship. Whether working alone or with Lori's help, Max's hands shaped wood into lasting treasures.

 

A lifelong lover of the outdoors, Max enjoyed fishing, relishing the peace and quiet of the water and the thrill of a catch. His versatility extended beyond his hobbies into his career, where he worked tirelessly in the quarry and gravel business. Through dedication and resilience, he ensured his family's well-being and earned the respect of his peers.

 

Max's talents were as varied as his interests. With a close friend, he built and raced drag cars and raced them at Byron Speedway in Illinois, embracing the excitement and camaraderie of the track. This adventurous spirit was just one more facet of his remarkable life.

 

Max leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and creativity. His impact on family and friends will be felt for generations, remembered in every crafted object, shared story, and cherished memory.

 

He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Lorraine, his father Fern, his mother Edith and brother Ray Sewick, and a great-grandchild, Lucas Allen Goodall.

 

Max is survived by his children, Constance Goodall and her husband Larry, Michael A. Sewick, Victoria (Jeff) Seaburg, Christine A. (Tim) Pifkowski, Janet J. (Scott) Opels, and Laurie Jo (Greg) Zawislak; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Howard (Peggy) Sewick.

 

A Celebration of Life for Max will be held at a later date to be determined at the Highland Gardens of Memories Chapel in Belvidere, Illinois. Family, friends, and the community will gather to honor his memory and celebrate all that he gave to those around him.

 

Max Sewick will be dearly missed, but his spirit remains in the hearts of those who loved him.
