Assistant Chief Stetson Schwien assisted Fire Chief Taber with an individual starting a brush fire during the burn ban. They told the individual to put out the fire.

Asst. Chief Schwien assisted a subject with posting bond for an outstanding warrant.

Officers spoke with one individual seeking assistance and issued one traffic warning.

September 6

Officer Megan Barnes found an open door while on patrol. She cleared the building and left a notice on the door for the owners.

Officer Barnes took a report of trespassing at the apartments.

Officer Barnes responded to Mercy Hospital for a disruptive patient. After discussion a Shannon County Deputy transported the individual back to Summersville. 

September 8

Cpl. Kylie McGee arrested an individual with outstanding warrants at Veteran’s Park.

Officer Dylan Cook monitored a child custody exchange. 

Officer Cook took a report of harassment. 

Officer Koleman McDaniel spoke with an individual crossing properties about trespassing issues.

Officer McDaniel responded to a call of a verbal dispute. He assisted the couple with finding a solution to the problem.

Officer McDaniel investigated a non-injury vehicle accident.

Officer Cook responded to a report of a domestic altercation. He spoke with a parent and children who were fighting over the remote.

Officer Cook spoke with an individual and the fire chief regarding a small smoldering fire. 

Officer Barnes responded to a verbal disturbance. She advised the parties to keep the noise down and stay separated.

Cpl. McGee secured an open door. 

Officers spoke to two individuals requesting information or assistance and issued one traffic warning.

September 9

Officer Cook found an open door and secured the property.

Cpl. McGee and Officer Cook heard gunshots in the area of S. Elm and Hwy W. They checked the area and did not find anything.

Asst. Chief Schwien issued a nuisance ordinance violation.

Officers issued six traffic warnings.

September 10

While conducting security checks at the golf course, Cpl McGee found multiple open doors and contacted the golf course superintendent. 

Officers spoke to two individuals requesting information or assistance and issued two traffic warnings.

September 11

Officer Cook responded to a report of a strong smell of propane in an area. He found the propane smell coming from a residence and contacted the homeowner. 

Officer Cook assisted an individual with a flat tire.

Cpl. McGee and Officer Cook heard loud booming sounds from the area of East Third Street and Marr Street. After an extensive search and speaking to several residents, they did not find anything significant. They will keep watch over the area.

Cpl. Alexis Johnson took a report of online harassment.
