WSFD participated in search for drowning victims

Willow Springs Fire Department sent first responders to participate in Friday’s search for a drowning victim. WSFD was among many agencies in the surrounding counties who responded to Grovespring in Webster County to search for the missing young men who were swept off a low water crossing on Highway M at Parks Creek. 
At approximately midnight Friday morning, six young adults in a vehicle were swept off the roadway in fast-moving water and carried downstream, reported the Wright County Sheriff’s Office. By the morning, four of the occupants were located safely. One young man was found deceased, but the search for the sixth lasted until approximately 10:00 a.m. Friday. He was also found dead. 
Alexander Roman-Ranelli, 19, of Springfield, and Devin Holt, 20, of Grovespring, perished in the water in the accident. 
Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop G, Troop G’s Search and Rescue, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, the Missouri Conservation Department, Wright County First Responders, and Grovespring Fire Department were also involved in the search.
