NO SHAVE DECEMBER AT WPPD

The West Plains Police Department has once again decided to loosen their facial hair policy restrictions to allow officers to participate in “No Shave December.” The annual tradition is typically held in November, but was delayed this year due to COVID-19 and other delays.

Each officer who participates will post a participation fee and has to cleanly shave their face. The officer then has the entire month of December to grow a beard. The Police Department uses this tradition as a fundraiser for Shop With A Cop. Officers who participate can also ask members of the community for donations during their beard growing adventure. The officer who receives the largest total of donations will be allowed to keep their beard for the month of January as well.

In the coming weeks, if you see WPPD officers with more whiskers on their chin than normal, it is for this incredible reason. If you have any questions about No Shave December or would like to donate, contact the West Plains Police Department at 417-256-2244.
