New postmaster in Willow Springs

There’s a new face in the Willow Springs Post Office. Tony Danford began his tenure as postmaster on May 5. He says he hopes to retire there.

Danford’s career with the United States Post Office began in Pottersville eight years ago. He reports he served two years as a clerk, two years as a city carrier, and two years as a supervisor in the West Plains Post Office before ascending to the postmaster position in Willow Springs this month.

“I’m excited to be here as this town is growing,” Danford told Howell County News. He summed up the role of a postmaster as “properly serving the community and the customers.”

To that end, Danford said he hopes to grow the Willow Springs office and serve better.

“The carriers and clerks are fantastic and doing their jobs well,” he said, “but there’s always some room for improvement.”

Danford said he is looking to retire from the Willow Springs office in twenty-five years and hopes to become more involved in the community. He resides near West Plains with his wife of 13 years and two sons. He has lived all over the United States but says his wife’s family is from the Thayer area. Those family names are Finney and Sheldon.

Danford replaces Stacy Falkenrath, who held the postmaster position from 2011 until March 21, 2025.
