A 24-year-old Mountain View man is facing a pair of felony charges after police say he shot at an occupied, moving vehicle on State Route 17. Three victims contacted Howell County Sheriff’s Department on October 18 and accused Jayden E. Reese of shooting at their vehicle as he rode in the back seat.
Investigator Torey Thompson observed “obvious bullet marks,” on the vehicle.
According to the victims, the driver in which Reese was a passenger was following their car outside the Mountain View city limits that Sunday night. The victims pulled over to see what the suspect vehicle wanted, and Reese shot at them from the back seat. Reese is known to the victims.
West Plains Police stopped the suspect vehicle and searched it with the driver’s consent. They located drug paraphernalia and a 9mm magazine and ammunition in the vehicle. The driver of the car and other witnesses in the vehicle implicated Reese in the shooting, says court documents.
Three spent 9mm handgun rounds were recovered at the scene of the shooting that matched, “the general characteristics and caliber of the ammunition” found in the defendant’s possession, according to the probable cause statement.
The investigation found Reese to be in possession of methamphetamine shortly after the incident, and court documents refer to him as a “danger to the community.”
Reese pled not guilty at his October 19 arraignment. He is schedule for a court appearance on October 26 after press time.
