Gamma Phi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma held meeting

The Gamma Phi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met at Pizza Americana, Willow Springs, Mo., on April 12. Chapter president Faye Wiersema opened the meeting followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Highlights from the business meeting were reports from the secretary and treasurer, plus a reminder to pay dues.
The state meeting will be held April 25 and 26. There will be a special recognition of Mary Stottlemeyer for her long-time commitment to Delta Kappa Gamma. Vivian Alsup will be recognized for her 60 year membership and Jeannie Beltz for her 40 year membership. Faye Wiersema and Suzette Litwiller will be representing our chapter at the meeting.
Mary Jane Lybyer presented the scholarship winners for this year. They are Jaden Wilkerson from Houston and Emma Smith from Ava. Both of these young ladies will be working toward a degree in education and will each receive $750.
In other business the chapter voted to give new teachers in each of our represented towns, new pens. New members will be presented in our July meeting and voted on at our September meeting.
Elaine Campbell announced that our chapter has donated over 4000 books to the Born to Read program at Texas County Health Department which are given to new mothers.
After the business meeting Marla Burgess gave a devotion on the Joy of Flowers followed by our main speaker Judy Rhine of Mountain View Gardening Club. Judy, who is a Master Gardener, presented a program on the Federation of Gardening. The goals are to teach practical information for everyone, working with the community and school by weeding and planting. She also described the importance of pollinators in the natural resources of the earth.
As always, wonderful conversation and good food from Pizza Americana were enjoyed by all who attended.
