Fiber optics will soon be an option for the city of Mountain View. The Board of Alderman voted unanimously for a joint agreement between the city and Brightspeed.
On Monday, July 22, the board heard from Claudia Sans with Brightspeed on a plan to install fiber optics in the city. Brightspeed will pay the city $10.00 per pole that they utilize. The city would pay Brightspeed $10.00 if they needed to use on of their poles as outlines in the joint use agreement. Alderwoman Judi Colter made the motion to approve Brightspeed’s plan, seconded by Alderman David Bauer. An ordinance and resolution will be presented at the August 13 meeting.
During the meeting, Mayor Charry McCann announced that microphones were purchased and installed in the council chambers and, “They work great.” During this time, Mayor McCann announced that the board will meet on July 31 at 8:00 a.m. for a workshop and to tour the golf course for an evaluation.
