What started with a report of harassment and threats ended in charges for a convicted felon in possession of firearms. Bobby J. McKee, 49, of Willow Springs, called Howell County Sheriff’s Deputies to his home on May 7 to report threatening and harassing behavior. According to McKee, two individuals called “Victims” in court documents came to his residence to try to fight him.
When Deputy Hunter Ward approached a victim at her business on Friscoe St., she said she knew McKee was a persistent DWI offender and had seen him driving his vehicle at Snappy Mart in Willow Springs. She and another victim followed McKee home to make sure she identified him correctly before reporting him to the police.
McKee pled guilty to a felony charge of persistent driving under the influence in 2018. He successfully completed five years of probation.
When the victims arrived at McKee’s residence, he brandished a firearm and threatened to shoot them, says court documents. The victims recorded a video of McKee waiving a gun while they turned around to leave his residence.
McKee, as a convicted felon, is disqualified from owning firearms. Law enforcement returned to his home and located not only the gun seen in the victims’ video, but also three more firearms. All of the firearms were seized from the residence. The accused was arrested on the scene.
McKee faces two additional felonies because of these events – unlawful possession of a weapon and unlawful use of a weapon. As of press time, he remains in Howell County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
