WSHS Teacher, Coach, Veteran Recognized

On Thursday March 25, Vince McCrosky, a teacher and coach at Willow Springs High School, received an award honoring his service in the U.S. Navy. McCrosky served from 1981 to 1986 during the Cold War. While in the Navy, he was a tin can sailor on the USS McCormick, which meant he often rode in high seas with rough waves. Ranking as an Operation Specialist, McCrosky was also a 2nd Class Petty Officer and Line Officer.
His award was presented by Ex. Lieutenant Commander Jerry Miller, a member from the organization Veterans Helping Veterans of Northeastern Arkansas (NEA). This organization was formed in 2017 specifically to honor those who served in the military.
McCrosky was recognized, along with more than 400 other veterans in the Northeastern Arkansas area. McCrosky said, “It is such an honor to receive this award and I appreciate all who came to watch and celebrate.”
McCrosky was especially appreciative of the Mountain Dew provided for him. Vince McCrosky is very deserving of this award. All of us at Willow Springs High School as well as many others greatly appreciate his service and his dedication to our school, our community, and our country.
