Liberty FFA April Newsletter

The Mountain View- Birch Tree FFA would like to extend a very warm thank you to the West Plains Bank of Mountain View, Missouri for giving a very generous donation for our FFA Week Community/Farmer Luncheon. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic this year the organization was not able to hold our normal fundraisers. The charitable donation saved the chapter money and allowed us to save money for other FFA activities throughout the 2021 school year. Thank you West Plains Bank for your continuous support every year!
Many fun and interesting things have happened in the Mountain View- Birch Tree FFA since our last newspaper article. The FFA farm received a new addition from one of our cows, a lively and energetic newborn calf and we will hopefully have another one, as the second cow has one on the way.
During FFA Week many farmers, FFA alumni, and business leaders attended our annual FFA Community/Farmer Appreciation Luncheon, which was a hit again this year as usual. The menu included fried and smoked fish, chicken strips, hush puppies, baked beans and many other treats.
On March 4th, nineteen of our FFA members attended the Area Leadership Conference in Mountain Grove, Missouri. Our members were privileged to hear a special guest speaker, Dakota Pemberton. He is the Missouri's State FFA Chapter Vice President.  Our Chapter Officers were able to compete in the  FFA Opening and Closing Rituals contest while attending the conference.
March and April are always a busy time of year for our FFA members. This season is known as FFA Contest Season. We would like to send congratulations to the Mountain View- Birch Tree FFA Forestry Team, which placed first in our Area 13 Forestry Competition in Houston, Missouri. The top three people in the Area Contest were from the Mountain View- Birch Tree School District. Those participants in order from first to third were Hayden Foster, Brooklyn Billick, and Robert Mantel. The competitors then went to Rolla Missouri to our District Forestry Competition and placed fifth, those competitors in order of placing were Brooklyn Billick, Hayden Foster, Robert Mantel, and Broc Bay.
This year's trap season is starting off with a bang as we are now practicing for our Area 13 Spring Break’em Competition this Saturday the 10th, so be sure to wish both teams that are going good luck.
Over the next two months the FFA chapter will be involved in many activities so be sure to check back in May to find out more about what the Mountain View- Birch Tree FFA Members have been doing.
