Zizzer Cross Country hosts invitational

West Plains Cross Country hosted the Joe Bill Dixon Zizzer Invitational on September 17. A total of nine schools participated in the varsity race: Cabool, Hillcrest, Liberty (Mountain View), Licking, Mountain Home Christian Academy, Niangua, Poplar Bluff, West Plains, and Willow Springs. Three additional rural schools from the West Plains area, Glenwood, Howell Valley, and Junction Hill, joined the mix for the junior high and elementary races.
According to the Zizzer Head Coach Alicia Gunter, the course for the high school race was a long 5K and the other races were slightly longer than 1.5 miles.
The Varsity boys’ race was won by Carson King, senior of West Plains with a time of 17:32.05.
The Varsity girls’ race was won by Emily Ritter, junior of West Plains with a time of 21:13.12.
Joby Dixon, from Howell Valley, won the junior high boys division with a time of 9:59.15.
Daytin Bruce of Poplar Bluff, won the junior high girls division with a time of 12:09.08.
The winner of the elementary boys race was Paxton Shultz, of Glenwood MS with a time of 11:05.31.
The winner of the girls’ elementary race was Aria Smith, from Howell Valley with a time of 12:27.64.
