The Willow Springs Bears are on a three-win streak after defeating Licking, Hollister and Houston. The Bears now sit 11-4 on the season.
On Tuesday, Jan. 6 the Bears took down the Licking Wildcats 64-52. Kolby James led the way with 31 points and 8 rebounds followed by Brady James with 17 points. Head Coach Dustin Forrest commented on the game, "Licking is a tough place to play. It was a big game for us starting the second half of the season. District seeding was on the line with them and it was a game we needed to win. We came out hot taking a 9-0 lead and never lost the lead the whole night. It was a good win at a tough place to play."
On Friday, Jan. 9 the Bears defeated the Hollister Tigers at home 72-34. K. James led with 23 points followed by B. James with 13 and Caden Lee with 12 points. "Hollister was our Hoop Queen game," began Head coach Forrest. "It was a great atmosphere for the boys to play in that night. Hollister got out to an early 6-0 lead, but we quickly bounced back. After having a pretty good lead to end the first, we went on to outscore Hollister 27-9 in the second quarter. I thought our guys played a great team game that night. They moved the ball well and passed up good shots to get great shots. Hollister had a couple guys that I was worried about. We followed the game plan and were able to shut them down."
Friday, Jan. 16 the Bears defeated the Houston Tigers 82-42. Next up for the Bears is an away game at Gainesville on Tuesday Jan. 20 followed by a home game on Friday, Jan. 23 against Mansfield.
