Lady Eagles golf sinks the shot on season

The Lady Eagles golf program is being led by Sophomore Kameryn Wood. Wood finished out her impressive Freshman year last year as the Missouri State Champion. For the Lady Eagles 2024 season, there are only two golfers, Wood and Payton Glasscock. Lexi Pederson was prepped to be on the team but a medical issue impacted her playing time. Pederson was able to play in the last meet of the season on Oct. 3.

The season began on Sept. 12 in Mtn. Grove with a 9-hole meet. Kameryn Wood shot a 38 (+2) taking first place while Payton Glasscock shot a 68.

On Sept. 18 the Lady Eagles traveled to the Lost Woods Golf Course in Theodosia for an 18-hold meet where Wood took first place with 83 and Glasscock shot a 132.

Sept. 23 the Lady Eagles traveled to West Plains for an 18-hold meet where Wood took first place with a score of 79.

In Mtn. Grove competing in a 9-hole meet on Sept. 26, Wood took first place with a 43 and Glasscock shot a 66 for 23rd.

Traveling to Bloomfield on Sept. 30, the Lady Eagles competed in an 18-hold meet. Wood took third place out of 71 golfers. "We had six regular meets this season and Kameryn won five of them," stated Assistant Coach Jeremy Wood. "Kameryn got third place competing against 71 golfers. There were a lot of 3A and 4A girls the only two girls that beat her were seniors of a 4A school"

For the last regular season meet, the Lady Eagles held a home meet on Thursday, Oct. 3 where Wood took first place with a score of 41, Glasscock took 5th with a score of 62 and Pederson took 7th with a score of 64.

Districts will be played this Thursday, Oct. 10 at Marshfield at Whispering Oaks. Wood will be the only Lady Eagle competing.

"I feel good about my game right now," Wood stated. "I feel confident going into districts."
