May 3
A male subject reported an incident of fraud. The man was advised of steps he could take to protect his financial information.
A domestic disturbance was reported on County Road 3010. No criminal charges were filed.
May 4
Assistance was given to the Children’s Division to investigate a 15-year-old female that had reportedly been abandoned by her mother, due to being pregnant. The juvenile was located and was placed in the care of her grandmother. An investigation will continue to verify the care and custody of the juvenile.
A female subject came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a missing person. 58-year-old Kermit Collins was last seen in the Howell County area five years ago. The case remains under investigation.
A female subject was taken into custody during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 63, near Ramseur Road in West Plains. The woman was arrested on drug and weapon charges.
May 5
A resident reported the theft of a vehicle on County Road 1780. There are no current suspects or witnesses.
May 6
Hand tools were reported stolen from a building on County Road 6620.
An individual reported an incident of identity theft.
A deputy was called to the area of State Route AB in West Plains for a report of a domestic disturbance in a vehicle.
A motorcycle was reported stolen on County Road 8230 in West Plains.
A domestic disturbance was reported on County Road 6370. Neither involved party wished to pursue charges.
May 7
A deputy responded to Salutes on U.S. Highway 63 in West Plains for a report of theft.
May 8
Found property was brought to the Sheriff’s Office. The individual who found the property stated that was located in the roadway on State Route H in Caulfield.
May 9
An individual was arrested on State Route K in West Plains for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
A court order violation was reported on County Road 1770. The case was closed, as there was no evidence to support a violation of the court order.
May 10
A CenturyLink employee reported that his work truck was stolen while he was working in Pomona. The vehicle was traced using GPS and was located on County Road 6310. A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, and a short pursuit began. The suspect drove the truck off the roadway and through pastures before exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot.  The suspect, who had a felony warrant for his arrest, was located by members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, West Plains Police Department and the Howell County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle was moderately damaged during the pursuit.
May 12
A male subject reported being assaulted by a patient while working on an ambulance. The victim stated that he was grabbed by a patient and that the patient tried to pull him to the floor. No significant injuries were reported, and no charges are being sought.
