Durnell, Hudson, Cook should show common sense

Letter to the Editor,
Governor Kehoe wants us to vote on eliminating the income tax in Missouri without giving us any plan on how that money is to be replaced. He wants the legislature to do that planning.

The Missouri legislature has a pretty dismal record of late when it comes to what's best for their average every day working constituents, especially in our region of the state.

Representatives Lisa Durnell, Benny Cook and Senator Brad Hudson, in 2005, voted to overturn Amendment 3 (medical choice) and Proposition A (paid sick leave) after these issues were passed by a majority of voters.  Again, these three voted to eliminate the capital gains tax which is already creating funding problems in Missouri.

Religious fervor is overtaking common sense when Durnell, Cook and Hudson voted to underfund our public education by giving $50,000,000.00 of our tax dollars to private schools (with no accountability).  It is proposed that another $10,000.000.00 be taken out of public-school funding for private schools.

It is quite obvious Representative Lisa Durnell, Bennie Cook and Senator Brad Hudson are catering to their own interests and to their wealthy friends/donors rather than what is best for every person living in Southern Missouri. We are asked to trust them with finding a good solution if the income tax is eliminated.

Really?
