Melvin "Lum" Worker, 89, of West Plains, passed away at his home with his wife Betty at his side on October 17, 2024. He was born to Turner and Fern Worker in Bingham, Illinois, in September of 1935.
On August 14, 1996, he married the love of his life, Betty, at Brownstown, Illinois. They were blessed with 28 years of marriage and a wonderful family. They worked hard and enjoyed life together. Melvin and Betty enjoyed camping all across the United States. Melvin loved riding four wheelers and thoroughly enjoyed mowing their yard. He always had a smile on his face. In their spare time they enjoyed camping any chance they could. Melvin enjoyed the outdoors immensely. Something Melvin didn't always let everyone know was he loved flowers. When they were kids and moved from the farm to town, his mother transplanted flowers from the farm to the house in town. His love of flowers was passed on from his mother and her always having gorgeous flowers. Melvin & Betty's love never wavered, and they took great care of each other over the years.
Preceding him in death was his brother, Mervin Worker, and three children: Lyle Dean Worker, Lamoin Worker, Laquita Hans.
He is survived by LeAnna Moore and her husband Thomas, Laniel & Billie Worker, stepsons Terry & Kim White, Bruce & Debbie White. Melvin is also survived by 14 Grandchildren, 21 Great-Grandchildren & three Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Melvin will be dearly missed by his loved ones and friends. He has left a beautiful legacy behind with his loving wife Betty & their large family.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 26th at 11 a.m. at the Galloway Cemetery in West Plains.
