In Loving Memory of Kay Lawson

October 9, 1956 – February 14, 2026

 

Kay Lawson, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on February 14, 2026. Born and raised in the scenic Ozark hills of Missouri, Kay's intelligence and creativity touched countless lives throughout her life. She dedicated her career to teaching, retiring after many years of shaping young minds in classrooms across Missouri. She had obtained a Master of Arts in Education.  Beyond education, Kay was a gifted author, publishing several mystery novels and short stories that showcased her remarkable imagination.

 

Kay was known for her boundless creativity, always juggling numerous projects at once, whether she was painting, gardening, or crafting something new. She cherished time spent with her beloved cats and found joy in the simple pleasures of reading and writing. Her passion for the outdoors reflected her roots, and she delighted in the beauty of the Ozarks. An intriguing aspect of Kay's personality was her encyclopedic knowledge of football; ask her anything about football, and she always had the answer.

 

Kay's legacy lives on through her loving family: her husband, Barry Lawson; daughter, Amanda Lawson; son, Kris Lawson; granddaughter Lily Ada Kay Voege Lawson; and sister, Lynn Thompson. She is also remembered by numerous friends and an untold number of students whose lives she touched and inspired. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Rossie E. Bacher & Mildren Lois Bacher. 

 

Her family and friends will celebrate her life often, remembering the warmth, wisdom, and creativity she brought to every moment. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be determined.
