Joyce Carole (Tune) DeBoard

Joyce Carole (Tune) DeBoard was born on September 14, 1947, to John Roy and Lorene Tune. She was the oldest of three children. On July 27, 1966, Joyce married Andrew "Ed" DeBoard. Married 55 years, these two showed the true meaning of "in sickness and in health". To this union, two daughters were born, Andrea and Ashley.
Joyce worked several jobs over her life, but eventually became a stay-at-home mom and also selflessly cared for her parents, sister, and husband throughout their health battles.
Her home and heart were always open to family and friends in need. Joyce had a special talent for creating for her loved ones. She sewed Halloween costumes and even made outfits for her family. Birthday cakes were homemade and decorated by hand. Delicious meals were prepared even when the ingredients had to stretch. Joyce loved embroidering and making quilts. Numerous were thoughtfully created. Many based on her children or grandchildren's interests at a particular time. One of her favorite jokes was that no one in her family "should ever go cold". There truly wasn't anything she couldn't make or fix if she set her mind to it.
On May 18, 2022, Joyce passed at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. While cancer may have taken her from us, it could never steal her determination or spirit.
She is survived by her husband of almost 56 years; her daughters, Andrea Greenan, husband Michael, and Ashley Brooks; grandchildren, Karter and Ava Greenan, and Kaden and Kanton Brooks; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy DeBoard-Moore and Jan Tune; and a host of nieces, nephews, including greats and great-greats, and some especially dear to her heart, John D. Tune, Preston Grunden, Tyler Grunden, and honorary nephew, Thomas Thompson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lorene Tune; in-laws, Ritchie and Mary DeBoard; sister, Betty Henry; brother, Johnny Tune; and brothers-in-law, John DeBoard and Quincey Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23, at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri, with Chaplin Eric Bowman officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment was in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Mountain View.
