A Willow Springs man remains in custody after a SWAT team responded to remove him from a residence outside Willow Springs. As previously reported by Howell County News, Dayton Terrill-Austin, 29, was arrested by the Howell County SWAT team on September 27. He refused to exit his residence when Sheriff’s deputies arrived at his home that day to arrest him for warrants and absconding from parole.
Formal charges for this interaction were filed in Howell County Court on October 6. In addition to probation violations for two drug possession convictions this year, Terrill-Austin faces one count of felony resisting arrest. His bond was set at $5,000.
Bond amounts in the pending probation violation matters have been increased to $50,000. The defendant appeared in court in custody on October 2 on these matters and is accused of moving residences and terminating his employment without notifying probation and parole, as well as additional drug use.
Despite the SWAT team finding drugs in the residence the day of the SWAT raid, according to a September 28 interview with Howell County Sheriff Matt Roberts, the defendant is not facing additional possession charges at this time.
On the probation violation matters, Terrill-Austin will appear for a violation hearing on October 16. On the new charge of resisting arrest, he pled not guilty on October 9 and is set for a preliminary hearing before the Honorable Melissa Stewart on October 22.
