Howell County Commission awards one bid and tables another

Already this month, the Howell County Commission has awarded one bid for the Sheriff's Department’s fleet maintenance services, and tabled a bid for road work.

The Commission opened the discussion of the Howell County Sheriff's Department's fleet maintenance and services at the September third meeting. Two West Plains companies submitted bids to the county. These companies were Platinum Automotive Center and Don Kenslow Auto Service Inc. After discussion, Platinum Automotive was awarded the commission. Service and maintenance prices range from $80.00-$227.16 depending on the type of vehicle and service being done to said vehicle. According to Howell County Sheriff Matt Roberts, Platinum’s was the low bid. The other bid did not address cost for everything the department requested, and what costs they did quote were higher, Roberts told Howell County News September 12.

Back in the commission chambers, the topic of hot mix overlay was opened September 10 regarding the needed upgrade of county roads in the southern district during the September tenth Commission meeting. A bid from West Plains company, Pace Construction was received. The bid was higher than it had been in months prior, said Howell County Clerk Kelly Waggoner in a September 11 interview.  Presiding Commissioner Ralph Riggs tabled the discussion wanting to take the weekend to think over the bid, Waggoner said.
