MV-BT School District sets tax rate

The Mountain View-Birch Tree R-III School District set the tax rate for the 2026-2027 school year during the Thursday, Aug. 20 meeting.

 

The meeting began with a tax hearing where the floor was open for public comments, but no public comments were made.

 

The tax rate for the 2026-2027 school year was set at $3.6382 with $2.8519 allocated to the Incidental Fund and $0.7863 allocated to the Capital Outlay Fund. The tax rate passed at a motion was made by Josh Roberts, seconded by Gaylon Noble with an all-in-favor vote from the board.

 

In other board action:

- Minutes of the July 23 regular and August 7 special board meetings approved

- Payment of bills in the amount of $626,746.73 approved

- Payment of $392.08 to Brown's Farm and Garden for supply was approved with Mikael Orchard abstaining

- Superintendent Lanna Tharp presented the financial report with a balance in all funds for July 2026 was $10,647,442.75

- The LPN Supervision contract with Kristi Christensen was approved

 

Closed session

- Approved hire of Mason Vandevort, nurse sub; Kristi Williams and Karen Wilbanks to the non-certified substitute list; Jaedyn Evans, Shelly Enloe, Sarah Barkley, Shawn Formanek, Matthew Ledgerwood and Michaela Sisler to the certified substitute list

- Approved Jami Acklin to be added to the volunteer list
