Newborns In Need (NIN) will hold its annual "Sleepers In September" collection, this month. Too many babies do not have enough clothing or blankets to keep them warm during these cold winter months. It is for this reason the NIN organization was established.
The Ozark chapter is among 60 chapters across the country. Founded in 1992, NIN is a 501 (C)(3) charity that responds to the needs of premature and newborn babies whose parents are experiencing a crisis situation, having difficulty providing the necessary items for their babies. NIN chapters also provide bereavement items for those parents experiencing an unexpected death of a newborn.
The Ozark chapter will collect new, unused sleepers in sizes 0 to 6 months, additional quilts, Afghans or receiving blankets, and clothing are also welcome. Monetary contributions, which help with the purchase of material and mailing of our donations, is really needed. Any donations stay locally. The area continues to have many babies needing help to stay clothed and warm.
The chapter donates between 200 to 400 baby items each month. These items are made by a group of four to six volunteers, going to 12 locations. This includes 10 health units, two hospitals, and one pregnancy center. NIN's guiding principle is "One Heart, One Mission;
Serving All God's Children". You may contact Jeanne Roles at 417-247-1479 for any donation to be picked up.
