In-town eagle sighting

Kari Moore snapped this picture on Elmore Dr. in West Plains on the afternoon of January 15. “Amazing,” Moore said.  “I’ve never seen one in town here before.”

According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, in 2025, there were more than 600 active bald eagle nests statewide. The treasured national symbol tends to prefer lakes, rivers, and marshes as they forage for carrion and fish.
