Studebaker pickup is Peoples Choice at Beartown Teardown

Car enthusiasts took over downtown Willow Springs Saturday for the Fourth Annual Beartown Teardown, the crowning event of the summer for Willow Springs Charitable Events. 

 

This year’s People's Choice Award for this year is Bob Berry’s red 1946 Studebaker pickup. “Best of” awards went to Jodie Huffman (Ford), Jacob Acklin (Dodge), Bob Berry (“Dead car,” for makes no longer in production), Gunner Keist (import), and David Hisel (Ratrod).

 

New to the event this year was the Bailey Chevrolet Ultimate Spark Plug Shootout. According to organizers Charla and Jason Story, this was a race to change sparkplugs the fastest. Participants drew numbers for their initial opponents, and then competition proceeded in elimination rounds. A mechanic from Bailey Chevrolet, Lance Wittkofski, was on hand to judge the accuracy and winner of each bracket. 

 

Terry Phelps was this year’s winner of the Sparkplug Shootout and walked away with one hundred dollars and a trophy.
