City admin terms approved

Mountain View's board of aldermen approved the employment agreement for the incoming city administrator, adding a 90-day severance package during closed session. The addition stipulates that if the city administrator is not reappointed in April or terminated without cause that after 90 days he would receive a severance package. As previously reported by Howell County News, the board offered an employment contract to Chandler Shook in May. 

 

The closed session portion of the June 9 meeting lasted approximately two hours beginning at 8:20 p.m. and ending at 10:20 p.m. Also discussed and approved during closed session was the transition of the Wastewater Supervisor to a salaried position starting June 1, 2026. The salary will be $62,400 per year.

- Warning siren repair, motion was made and approved to repair the warning siren at a cost of $10,685 by Mobile Communications of America

- 2010 sanitation truck engine rebuild, motion to authorize repair in the amount of $21,533.37 by Rick's Truck Repair

- Mountain View Chamber of Commerce report (added to the agenda at the beginning of the meeting), Chamber Director Tanya Miller gave the city an update on the upcoming Fourth of July celebration

 

New Business

- May meeting minutes approved

- Department reports discussed by aldermen

- Financial report discussed and claims report, and Lauber Municipal invoice approved

- MIRMA yearly invoice approved

- Pool vacuum replacement, the board approved the purchase of a vacuum system for a cost of no more than $3,000

- Rescind mower purchase approved at May 12 meeting, the board rescinded the bid/purchase approval from the May 12, 2026 meeting. The city will redo the bids

- Parks mower purchase bids were opened and awarded to Hawkins in the amount of $9,500

- Airport renovation project bids were opened with approval to accept the bid from Yutzy to repair the roof at a cost of $16,585 and negotiate with J&J Construction to make the repairs to the inside of the building

- Fire dues were discussed, no motions made

- Bill 1444 Ordinance 1782-Natural Waste Dump first and second readings were approved

- Bill 1489 Ordinance 1807-Solid Waste Hauling Surcharge first and second readings were approved

- Bill 1494 Ordinance 1808-Short Term Rentals first and second readings were approved

- Bill 1490 Resolution 26-06-09-CBDG Certification was approved

- Bill 1491 Resolution 26-06-09-01-LEP Certification was approved

- Bill 1492 Resolution 26-06-09-02-Rescind Resolution 26-05-12-Ozark Applicators Agreement was approved
