The annual Fourth of July Patriots parade, celebrating 243 years of Independence, will be held Thursday, July 4, at 10 a.m. in Willow Springs. Parade participants will line up at the Booster Field starting at 9 a.m. This year, Willow Springs is also celebrating its 150-year Sesquicentennial (1869-2019).

Last year, we were fortunate to have numerous historical characters such as Laura Ingalls Wilder, Mark Twain, Pocahontas, Buffalo Bill Cody and Theodore Roosevelt to name a few,” said Jane Bailey, one of the parade’s organizers. “If you participated in years past, thank you for your patriotism.

We are looking for individuals to participate again this year. Please choose any character from American history including up to the present date. Try to think of who your hero or heroine would be.
