The Annual Country Cares for Kids St. Jude Radio-thon will be Wednesday, Feb. 13, on AM 1290 & FM 103.7 The Gift, KKountry 95 and 100.9 The Train beginning at 6 a.m.  Area schools, organizations and businesses are fund raising now.  Last year, the effort raised more than $200,000 for the kids at St. Jude. This year, the goal is $210,000.

When Danny Thomas began St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 1962, the survival rate was only 20 percent, but today it’s 80 percent, with the goal of 90 percent survival rate within the next decade.

The research gained at St. Jude is shared freely with children’s hospitals all over the world.  One hundred percent of the radio-thon dollars goes to the cause in supporting the research and operation of St. Jude Hospital in Memphis and the St. Jude wing in Springfield, Mo.  Sadly, several patients from the area are being treated currently at St. Jude.

Because of generosity of local residents, business’ churches, civic groups and other organizations, E-Communications is the number one radio station per capita for money raised in a single day in the country for the kids at St. Jude.

If you or your business wants to be involved in one of the most emotional and uplifting days of the entire year, you may call (417) 264-7211 or email Check out the stations’ web sites for more details and fund raising opportunities.
