McCloskey Stops in Willow Springs

Candidate for U.S. Senate Mark McCloskey made a visit to Willow Springs on Friday. One of twenty-one Republicans jostling for the nomination in the August primary, McCloskey told Howell County News what sets him apart is his outsider status. “I’ve never been a candidate before – I’ve never been a politician,” he said.
McCloskey and his wife made national headlines in the summer of 2020 when they met a mob that crashed the gates of their neighborhood near St. Louis with drawn firearms. Seizing the moment, McCloskey uses a photo of the incident on his campaign materials and prominently features second amendment issues in his platform.
“God came knocking on the door disguised as an angry mob,” McCloskey said on Friday. “My campaign is a mission. It’s a movement to restore our county, to bring back traditional moral values.”
McCloskey stopped in the Ozarks on a campaign seeking as he said, “to meet as many Missourians as possible.”
In Willow Springs, he stopped into the Ferguson Building, Vintage Floral, this news office, and The Willow Tree café. McCloskey is pictured here in The Willow Tree speaking with Delmar Sigman while Amber Roberts works a busy lunch shift.
