March proclaimed ‘shop local month’ in Willow Springs

It’s Shop Local Month in Willow Springs, proclaimed the Willow Springs city government at their meeting last Monday. Executive Director of the Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce Kim McCormick was present at the meeting and requested the proclamation from the aldermen to be a, “strong show of support” from the city to the business community. With the annual first quarter slump, a strong March could have a major impact on a small business, McCormick said.

The Chamber is sponsoring a Shop Local Passport Program to consumers to explore and support member businesses throughout the month. Using the Shop Local Passport, collect at least 5 signatures by making any financial transaction (deposit at a bank, payment at an insurance office, purchase at a store, or dinner at an eatery, etc.) at participating Chamber member businesses listed on the back of the Passport. Completed passports can be turned in for a chance to win a raffle prize.

Pick up a passport at Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce office, Robert Hollis Shelter Insurance, or the Howell County News office.
