Artfully Aging Event celebrates Creativity, Connection, and Healthy Aging

The West Plains Council on the Arts, Howell County Health Department and the West Plains Senior Center invite area adults age 50 and older to attend Artfully Aging, a free afternoon of creativity, learning, and social connection on Thursday, July 16, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the West Plains Senior Center.

 

Artfully Aging is designed to encourage healthy aging through creative expression while providing participants the opportunity to learn new skills from talented local artists. Attendees will rotate among a variety of hands-on artistic experiences and demonstrations while enjoying refreshments and fellowship.

 

Featured artists and activities include:

- Pam Brothers – Tap Hands

- Busy Hands Stitchers – Bookmarks

- Terri Combs – Gel-Plate Printing

- Danett House – Storytelling

- Yumi Jolliff – Origami

- Rocky Long & Fawn Cochrum – Lap Dulcimers

- Lonnie Meuser – Portraits by Scribbing 

- Paola Rogers – Greeting Cards

- Delores Winkler – Glass Etching

 

The event highlights the many benefits of creative engagement for older adults, including improved cognitive health, reduced stress, increased social interaction, and enhanced overall well-being.

 

"Creative activities provide opportunities for lifelong learning, self-expression, and meaningful connections with others," said organizers. "Artfully Aging offers a welcoming environment where adults can explore new interests, share experiences, and celebrate the joy of creativity."

 

There is no cost to attend, and all skill levels are welcome. Whether participants are experienced artists or simply curious about trying something new, Artfully Aging offers an enjoyable afternoon of hands-on activities and community engagement.
