Willow Springs School District COVID Update

For the last two weeks, there have been no varsity football games for the Willow Springs Bears. As of an interview with Superintendent of Schools Bill Hall on October 15, 117 students of the 1,269-member student body were quarantined. Football has been on hold because too many players were excluded from school to make a full team. As of press time, there were five active cases of COVID-19 among the students. The remaining students excluded from school are quarantined for being close contacts to a positive case, either inside or outside of school.

Of the 117 quarantined, 47 are in the high school, 44 in the middle school, and 27 are in the elementary school. Eight school staff members were quarantined as of Thursday.

In the big picture, Hall reported there have been 26 positive cases in the student body since the start of school: 20 high school pupils, five middle school pupils, and one elementary school student. These positives cases are 0.19% of the student body, which Hall called, “...not unusually high at all.”

Hall confirmed the district plans to continue with five-day seated instruction.
