Zizzer wrestling shows big improvement

Zizzer Wrestling is getting better with every competition.
 
The boys recently competed in two highly competitive varsity meets. On December 21, the team traveled to St. Louis to wrestle in the Chaminade Invitational. Colten McGuire won the 150 pound weight class and went 4-0 on the day with three pins!  Xarian Richardson placed fourth in 120# and won two matches by pins. Chris Goodwin at 285 pounds, won a match with a pin.
 
On January 3-4, the Zizzer boys wrestling team competed in the 57th annual Kinloch Classic tournament at Parkview High School in Springfield.
 
“This is a two-day tournament bringing in teams from all four classes and multiple states!” said Coach Reagan Fox. “All of our boys improved a lot over the last two days from the tough matches.”
 
Of the fourteen possible weight classes, the Zizzers had nine varsity wrestlers competing: 106#- Junior Judd (3-4) placed 15th; 120#- Xarian Richardson (11-8) placed 11th; 126#- Tristan Powell (2-7) placed 20th; 132#- Cole Marshall (1-6) placed 20th; 138#- Eli Ryan (6-11) placed 20th; 144#- Enric Carbonell Fuste (3-11) placed 18th; 150#- Colten McGuire (17-4) placed 4th
 
175#- Burk Hopkins (7-10) placed 22nd; and 285#- Christopher Goodwin (8-10) placed 11th.
 
The Zizzer Girls Wrestling team competed on January 2 in the tough Parkview Lady Viking Holiday Tournament. The Lady Zizzers have three varsity wrestlers. Each of them had multiple wins at this meet.
 
100#- Edie Hart (2-3) placed 7th; 155#- Ashley Nix (3-2) placed 9th; and 170#- Izzy Smith (2-2) placed 13th.
 
Both the boys and girls wrestling teams compete next at home on January 9 in a dual match with Hillcrest at 1 PM.
