Incidents 
March 20
Shots were reported fired near a residence on State Route 14 in West Plains. A fire was also reported in a well house, outside of the residence. The scene was cleared for the safety of firefighters, who quickly extinguished the fire. 
March 22
A West Plains woman reported an attempted theft via PayPal. The woman stated that she shipped a group of collectible dolls to someone after receiving payment, but the buyer disputed the payment, after the dolls were shipped. The buyer did ship dolls back to the seller, but they were not the same dolls. PayPal required the woman to file a criminal complaint before they could credit her account. A report was taken, and the investigation continues. 
A Mountain View woman reported that someone had used her maiden name and social security number to draw unemployment in Florida. A report was taken, and the investigation continues. 
A West Plains woman reported that someone used her debit card and transferred money from her account without her permission. The charges were at various locations in Springfield. The investigation is ongoing. 
March 25
Deputies responded to an unresponsive person at a home on Private Road 6922 in West Plains. Paramedics were on scene and had begun lifesaving measures. A short time later, the person was pronounced deceased. 
March 26
Howell County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Children’s Division with the investigation of alleged child abuse. The incident was investigated, and the child is not presently in danger.
