Beautiful weather draws record crowd - The fireworks display by AM Pyrotechnics was the highlight of the annual Sky Fire event held Sunday evening in Pomona, with all colors of the rainbow on show for the patriotic event. Estimates were that 12,000 people attended the event.
Council member Lucille Sigler asked chamber members if they were satisfied with the contract. “No, we’re not satisfied,” replied chamber president Jerry Orchard.
A 3-man speedball tournament will be hosted by Runaway Paintball July 26. Teams (up to five players) may pre-register for a fee of $75 by July 18.
In the early 1800s, Baltimore was a fast growing harbor city. The population was close to 50,000. Many of the men worked in the city at skilled jobs such as sailmakers, ironworkers, shipwrights and merchants. Successful shipbuilding and the city’s central location for trade helped to make Baltimore an important international seaport.
