School board offers contracts of employment to teachers

The Willow Springs school board voted to offer contracts of employment to staff at its regular monthly meeting March 13.
The board traditionally offers a contract of employment to the district superintendent in January, administration in February, and certified staff in March. 
At the January meeting, the board extended a contract of employment to superintendent Dr. Marty Spence through the 2024-2025 school year. 
At the February meeting, the board agreed to offer contracts of employment to the following administrators for the 2023-2024 school year: Chris Rodgers, elementary principal; Logan Schwalm, assistant elementary principal; Jon Johnson, middle school principal; Chris Cochran, assistant middle school principal; Nick Schmitt, high school principal; and Dustin Forrest, assistant high school principal. Also offered administrative contracts were Marlena Barker, special education director; Robert James, athletic director; and Chris Waggoner, curriculum coordinator. 
At the March board meeting:
• The board accepted the following resignations: Madilyn Hartley, middle school art teacher, and Shannon Crain, high school girls’ basketball coach. 
• The board approved the following new hires for the 2023-24 school year: Ashley Freeman, elementary teacher; Lindsey Wilson, elementary teacher; Michaela Rodgers, elementary teacher; Lacey Bunch, elementary teacher; Kameron Thomas, elementary teacher; Trevor Turner, band director; and Glen Cox, middle school teacher. 
• Melody Lien and Savannah Williams were approved as substitute teachers.
• On a motion by Matt Hobson, seconded by Debbie Bryan, the board offered a contract of employment to Quencie Thompson as an elementary teacher for the 2023-24 school year. A roll call vote was taken. Voting in favor of the motion were Mac Gum, Matt Hobson, Adam Webb, Jeff Lovan, Scott Foster, and Debbie Bryan. Brent Colley abstained. 
• The board offered contracts of employment to the following probationary teachers: Melissa Altermatt, Kaitlyn Baker, Tanner Barnes, Madyson Callahan, Britteny Capeder, BreAnna Combs, Rhea Cook, Audrianna Coursen, Emily Daniels, Kayla Drake, Angie Earls, Mark Gossard, Adam Hajeh, Quincey Hatch, Ashley Kelly, Makism Kharitinov, Amanda Marks, Angie Nelson, Lindsey Osborn, Jennifer Payne, Travis Payne, Casey Pitts, Andrea Ratterree, Crystal Sartor, Amy Bunch-Schmitt, Whitney Solik, Charla Story, Scott Tooley, Morgan Warren, Shaylee Welch, and Jesse Wilson. 
• The board also offered contracts of employment to part-time teacher Susan James and the following teachers who will go on tenure with the 2023-24 contracts: Amanda Bradford, Jordan Capeder, Nancy Jackson-Bean, Grant Talburt, Quencie Thompson, and Shiloh Walden.
