Phlebotomy technician training program begins Oct. 15

Officials with the nursing program at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) will offer a six-week phlebotomy technician training program beginning Oct. 15.
The non-credit course will provide the training and clinical experience needed to fill open positions in this field, officials said.
Lecture, lab and clinical instruction will take place on six successive Saturdays. The first three sessions will be 8 a.m. to noon on the MSU-WP campus; the next three clinical sessions will be 8 a.m. to noon at Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains.
The program offers many benefits:
- the convenience of short-term weekend classes;
- specialized training from licensed instructors with professional experience;
- a small class environment;
- and many career options upon successful completion.
The training costs $700 per person and includes books, materials and medical scrubs. It also includes the costs of a background check and drug screening.
Tuition assistance may be available.
Applicants must be 18 years or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent and pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
