Bear City Fall Festival this weekend in Willow
The Bear City Fall Festival is coming this weekend to downtown Willow Springs.
The chamber of commerce's annual festival will include some activities held in previous years, including the wood-cutting contests, set to begin at 9 a.m.
The events include Class 1 - Chain saw; Class 2 - Chain saw; Class 3 - Chain saw; and Class 4 - Chain saw. There will be an open chainsaw (bring your own), one-man crosscut, two-man crosscut, Jack and Jill crosscut, wood splitting, wood chopping, log role and pole throw. Everyone will use the same saw except in the open class chainsaw. The overall logger of the day will win a nice axe.
The day will include a black-powder reenactment at the four-way stop at 10 a.m. There will be a working, portable sawmill doing demonstrations throughout the day.
Other contests include the quilt show, pie contest and chili cookoff.
There will be numerous vendors for the day, including many food booths. The activities also will include a bounce house for children; a car, tractor and motorcycle show; a Black Bear Foundation booth; entertainment at the four-way stop all day; and smash-a-car.
